The Suffolk Coast is such an important part of who we are at O&C Butcher so it was great to be able to keep it local for this shoot. Booking an outdoor photoshoot at the end of March is always going to be risky, especially when you're photographing spring and summer clothes, but luckily the weather was on our side in Thorpeness. Thorpeness dates back to 1910 when Scottish Barrister and Architect Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie decided to build an enchanting holiday village for his friends and family. Originally a flooded fishing hamlet known as Thorpe, his new holiday village would include a beach, boating lake, country club, tennis courts and golf club. In 1922 the legendary Golf Course architect and five-times Open Champion James Braid would design the Thorpeness Golf Course - now a Par 70 18 hole natural heathland course. And our first photoshoot thank you goes to the Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel for providing us with a fantastic base for the day as well allowing to shoot on the green - thank you! Our next thank you goes to Craig Block who is in charge of the Meare and all the boats that sail on it. The boats had been kept indoors for the winter so Craig had been busy getting them ready for the Easter season and he had everything looking wonderful for us and we're very greatful for being able to shoot there. Another thank you goes to the owners of Thorpeness Windmill who very kindly allowed us to shoot there. The mill was converted to a water pumping mill in 1923 when it was moved from Aldringham to Thorpeness so that it could pump water to the iconic House in the Clouds. The next thank you goes to Chris and his very handsome Fox Terrier Mr Huxley. Chris owns Vintage Unit - a Suffolk-based company specialising in vintage industrial furniture and shop refits. When you own a shop it's priceless to know someone like Chris who can source any props and furniture that we need - including antique ice skates and vintage post boxes! This time our request however was for Mr Huxley and he obligingly donned his Barbour dog coat and performed splendidly on the day - thank you Mr H. We were also joined by another beautiful dog called Tiger. This adorable Minature Dachshund belonged to Charlie who was having a day out in Thorpeness but who had coincindentally just bought a pair of shoes from us in Aldeburgh. We borrowed Tiger for a quick photo session and we can't wait to see the final results - thank you Tiger. Last but not least a big thank you goes to a fantastic team on the day - led by Sylvaine Poitau our photographer and organised Suzie and Lisa from Stirling Love Photographic Production who enlisted the very lovely Holly and Tommy from Elliott Brown Agency. It was a long but sunny and very productive day and more than anything reminded us just how lucky we are to live and work on the Suffolk Coast.
