There’s something rather nice about the change of season in Aldeburgh. The flip-flops haven’t been put away completely, but there’s definitely a bit of autumn in the air – and the new collections arriving at Fleur are making us quite happy about it.

The shop is filling up with all the colours we want to wear now: rich chocolate brown, olive and mossy greens, burgundy and navy, alongside softer blues and a few brilliant flashes of cobalt and emerald.

Layers Are Back

After a summer of throwing on as little as possible, we’re ready for clothes again. Proper clothes.

There are lovely lightweight jackets, easy shirts and plenty of knitwear arriving – the sort of pieces you can start wearing now and keep layering as the weather gets cooler. Checks and stripes are creeping in too, particularly in those muted browns, greens and blues that all seem to work rather well together.

We particularly love the mix of something a little more polished with something very relaxed: a great jacket over a striped shirt, a checked skirt with a simple tee, or a big soft knit with your favourite jeans.

The Trainers Aren’t Going Anywhere

Good news if, like us, you’re not quite ready to get back into boots. Trainers are still very much part of the picture for autumn, and we’ve got some particularly good ones in store.

Wear them with trousers, denim, skirts or dresses – we like the fact that they make almost everything feel a little less 'done'.

A Little Bit Of Colour

Autumn doesn't have to mean beige. Among all those lovely earthy shades, there are some fantastic pops of colour this season.

Bright blue and green knits are already making the shop look considerably more cheerful, and they’re an easy way to give the things you already own a bit of a new-season update.

And, of course, there’s plenty more still to come.
