Erika studied Ikebana in Tokyo for over 20 years. She has created this beautiful exhibit for our Chelsea window, using flowers from the Southwold Flower Company.
Ikebana is more than just flower arranging, it is a spiritual process that helps one develop a closeness with nature. The inner tranquillity of meditation flows from removing the habitual clutter of the mind, and Ikebana becomes a visual metaphor for this refined state of consciousness.
Erika describes her work with flowers and plants as 'freestyle' arrangements. She is running an Ikebana Master Class at the Southwold Flower Company on 31st May 2025.

Below is another example of Erika's work and also a photo of her beautiful home region, Shiga, in Japan.
