Christmas is of course going to be different this year but if you're spending it in Aldeburgh here's my round up of some favourite places to eat and the services they're offering.

The Lighthouse

Sam and the team have been creative with lots of new ideas during the pandemic. The Lighthouse is currently open for lunch and supper and is a popular choice with our customers (and us!). James and I had a delicious lunch there last week starting with their amazing Salt and Pepper Squid followed by Calves Liver and Bacon for me whilst James had the Steak. It was so nice to go out and eat again, just a shame we had to go back to work after! The Lighthouse also offers the LightOne take out menu which includes everything James and I had for lunch and lots more. For Christmas Day they are doing a Heat at Home Hamper - see image below.

A Fishers Christmas

You can now enjoy locally sourced tapas and Fishers Gin from 12-10pm at the Fishers Gin Distillery on Aldeburgh seafront until Wednesday 23 December. They are also open for coffee and cake from 10am-4pm. It's a beautiful setting and a good chance to take a look at the new distillery as well as having a browse in their shop. Their tapas menu is below and is a great selection of local delights. I'm already a fan of their gin and their location so we're looking forward to eating there too.

The Wentworth Hotel

The Wentworth Hotel has recently been refurbished and has re-opened in time to offer some tasty festive treats. As well as their Christmas menu you can pop in to warm up by the fire for a Mince Pie and glass of Mulled Wine for £6.75 throughout December. They are also offering Festive Cream Teas...I'm on my way!

L'Escargot Sur Mer

What started as a summer pop-up has become a much-loved fixture in Aldeburgh. L'Escargot Sur Mer now offers restaurant dining, takeaways and the L'Escargot At Home range of sauces, soups and stews which are available in their shop. We've heard rave reviews about their takeaway Lobster & Chips and their Fish Pies. The service in the restaurant was exceptional and I have finally tried snails, I'm still not sure if I like them though. I did however love every other dish I've had especially the Shellfish Linguine.

Munchies Ready Meals

Munchies is obviously a well known cafe on the High Street and they have been doing takeaway throughout the lockdowns (James is probably 50% fuelled by Munchies Cappuccinos and we better not mention the bacon and egg baps).
